Specifying the project |
|
![]() |
We start with a clear description of your goals and requirements (and potentially future requirements). This will help to plan the difficult part of the installation (the pre-wiring) and will minimise rework and delays. This activity can take long as your own plans for your home or residence evolve and become better defined — and you consider the different automation options. To assist you, we provide examples of previous project's requirements and similar installations that we have done in the past. YOU CAN START DEFINING YOUR OWN REQUIREMENTS

Most spaces will already have some sub-systems — for instance lighting and heating systems — and having a good understanding of what's there and what wiring is in place will help to minimise duplication and cost. This activity delivers an almost final statement of your requirements and an outline wiring diagram. THE FOLLOWING EXAMPLES ARE AVAILABLE:

Once requirements have been defined and the wiring diagrams have been agreed it is now possible to start specifying the equipment that will be installed in detail. This may involve upgrades to existing systems or brand new equipment. In some instances, it may also be possible to phase the installation to minimise disruption or spread the cost. The bill-of-material is entered in our project tracking system so all the details are available to our engineers. You are also granted access to our project tracking system so you can see the progress of the project: equipment ordered and delivered, tasks scheduled and completed, etc. DOCUMENTS PRODUCED INCLUDE: |

Once the specification has been agreed, the final wiring diagrams are issued and the wiring can commence. Wiring routes (typically trunked) are prepared and wires are laid down. If this work is carried out in connection with other "routing" work (such as electrics, new heating/hot water pipes, air conditioning or other plumbing) care is taken to coordinate routes. This may take between a week and a month depending on the size of the residence or installation. However, if building work and/or consents are required the time elapsed can be significantly longer. Once all wires have been laid, the cable is terminated and connected to the relevant equipment or sockets. Cable runs are tested (and the results provided to you). Equipment is "soaked" and noise tests are conducted to ensure that it operates within parameters. DOCUMENTS PRODUCED INCLUDE: |
Programming and Set Up |

Once all the hardware (or at least a self-contained sub-set) is in place and programming of the different software controlled functions can now begin. User interfaces are quickly put together using the various technologies chosen by you (infrared remotes, two-way radio remotes and wall panels). Touch tone phone functions are also programmed. Much (if not all) of the complexity of your lifestyle
automation system gets hidden by intuitive, easy to use control
panels. In any case we offer a unique six-month post-installation support. It not only covers unlikely equipment failures but also minor changes that you may want to introduce resulting from the use of the system. MORE INFORMATION AND EXAMPLES CAN BE FOUND AT: |

Once the project (or a phase of work) is completed, we assist you to test the installation. Because our goal is to make life simpler - this testing usually takes place over one evening - even in large installations. THE SUCCESSFUL TEST CONCLUDES WITH THE ISSUANCE
